I never imagined we’d see the day where the most powerful chiropractic marketing was entirely free, but that’s exactly what we’re experiencing today. Chiropractic practices once had to spend unbelievable amounts of money to advertise on TV, radio, in newspapers, and at community events. Today, you can get an account on sites like YouTube, MySpace, Friendster, and Facebook, and get tremendous exposure without paying a dime. On these social sharing sites, people will be drawn to your useful information and your personal profile. Soon, you’ll see tons of new patients walking through your doors monthly.
During my last three years of successfully using social media websites to bring in new patients and create multiple sources of income, it’s been amazing just how much impact one can have in a virtual community. I mean, what I used to think about branding yourself and what I know now are two different things. Before, I was convinced that blanketing my local community with postcards, using radio advertisements, and going to chamber of commerce meetings was the premier way. Now, I look back and think what a fool!

For example, if you were to view one of my MySpace profiles, you’d see that I’ve amassed over 6,400 friends, 3,000 of which are in my local community. When I send out bulletins or post videos, they are propagated to all of these people. If you’re continuously spending thousands each month on newspaper drops, postcards, yellow pages, screenings, and telemarketing, you are literally throwing money down the tubes. We are in business to help alot of people and to do well financially. The goal is to cut advertising and chiropractic marketing costs so we can reap more profit from the practice. People absolutely love videos and would rather watch something than read a book or a newspaper. This trend is very significant from a marketing perspective as you will see. Once you are on the homepage (YouTube.com), you will see a “sign-up” link in the upper right-hand corner.
Once you have your account, begin to do some research and look at the videos. See what appeals to you and what doesn’t and leave comments. When you see what’s out there you’re setting the groundwork for your own wild success online. The amount of footage is spectacular, and the power of Web 2.0 will become very clear.
