To be successful in internet marketing you are going to have to stand out from the crowd…..and let me tell you, that crowd is actually a huge multitude!
Literally thousands of people are selling the very same product and information as you are. How are you going to get people motivated to follow you instead of all those others? One very powerful way, is by branding yourself.
If you look up ‘brand’ in the Webster’s Dictionary, it will state it means a mark made by a hot iron, a trademark or a mark of infamy. When an animal is branded with a hot iron, it is then easily identified as belonging to its owner. The good news is, you don’t have to go to that extreme to brand yourself!!! However, you are going to have to take some type of action to permanently distinguish yourself from the hordes of other people out there, who are trying to attract the same prospects. This is going to take a lot longer than branding an animal, but it is going to be well worth the time and effort.
We must first engage in some self-analysis. Ask yourselves questions like the following: What impression do I want to leave with others when they meet me in person or on the Internet?…..Am I willing to stay the course and remain true to my ideals? This process is very important, because once we decide how we want to be perceived by others, it is going to be very difficult to stray from that, later on down the road. If we try to do that, people will lose trust in us and look for someone else to follow.
When we know exactly how we want to portray ourselves, we then have to figure out ways to be seen and heard. This is made very easy for us if we use the free social networking sites. The three most popular at the present time are Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. There are lots more, but if you use these three on a regular basis, then you will be well on your way to branding yourself.
It’s not good enough to just visit and post on these sites occasionally. If you do that you will just get completely lost in all the traffic and no one is going to notice you at all. You have to be on these sites on a daily basis, and with Twitter it is recommended that you even post a few times a day. The whole idea is to interact with others. If someone poses a question and you have an answer, reply right away. This is what ’social networking’ is all about! It’s about getting to know other people and developing friendships with them, so that they come to know, like and trust you.
It’s the ‘kiss of death’ to try to imitate someone else. No one can be as good as that person, because no one else IS that person! Just as no one else can be as good as you, because you are unique. You have got to let your uniqueness shine through. People are going to relate to you, because you have what they have been looking for. We all resonate with different people and the people attracted to me, for instance, might not be attracted to you, and vice versa. By doing this, you will gradually build up a following and these people will then be part of your ‘list’, and when you recommend something to them, they will undoubtedly listen.
You don’t want to be one of the crowd….you want to stand out from the crowd….you want to be head and shoulders above everyone else in the crowd!! It absolutely is possible!! Just find out what makes you unique and put yourself out there for all the world to see!!
